I really loved being at the Schwules Museum for the finissage of Objects of Desire.
The Schwules Museum is bright and welcoming, and the days’ events were a celebration of International Whore’s Day. So many wonderful sex workers were in the house, proclaiming their identity and power, demanding examination of their humanity. And the live art was amazing!
Actress, activist , filmmaker and worker Marianne Chargois performed The Golden Flux, a live experience piece about urophilia and sex work. It was an extremely beautiful and exhilarating work – the crowd absolutely cheered as the clouds of steam rolled out into the room.
You can see Ms. Chargois “standing on a self made chemical mountain of piss, dry ice and water” on the insta feed of the performer shown below, Liad Hussein Kantorowicz. Read more about The Golden Flux here.
Performance artist and activist Liad Hussein Kantorowicz, a terrorist pussy superstar, performed Unidentified .
Liad is a spokesperson for sex workers’ rights and a founder of a Berlin peer project for migrant sex workers at Hydra.
Both these artists are doing crucial work illuminating the reality of sex workers. I am so grateful to live in a city where there is a museum that supports art like this.
